OVERVIEW: Putt18 is a Putting Game designed for both golfers and non-golfers.

The Putt18 Putting Mat allows you to play Stroke Play or Match Play over 9 or 18 holes. You can play individually, in pairs or even in teams. Each player, pair or team has 9 or 18 putts to judge the correct speed, direction and if you shoot the lowest score you win. The challenge is to get the golf ball to finish in a particular spot on the putting mat as each spot on the putting mat represents a score value.

Putt18 scores like a round of golf. Each target represents a hole. There are 3 target or holes and there are 6 starting points or tees to putt from. Every time you putt to a target or hole you are putting for an eagle.

Wherever the ball finishes in relation to that target or hole gives you a score. That score can be from as low as an eagle to as high as a triple bogey.

GENERAL RULES: Players and teams are required to keep their score using the score cards provided to keep track of their scores. You will need to decide how many players or teams are playing and whether you are playing 9 or 18 holes.

STARTING POINTS: The starting points are defined by 6 rectangular blocks. To start place a ball at the 1-3 hole block and commence putting. You will putt 3 balls from this spot. Your first putt will be at the hole Par 4, your next putt will be at the Par 5 and the next will be at the Par 3. Move to the next block 4-6 and so on. A player or team ball must be placed within the starting blocks before they putt. Should a player or team place their ball in front of or outside the rectangular starting blocks and putt, then the putt must be replayed and the player or team shall incur a One Shot Penalty Or Loss Of Hole in Match Play.

HOW TO PLAY PUTT18

SCORING:

Balls coming to rest within the following areas score the following points:

  • Blue circle you have scored a Par or 0
  • Red circle you have scored a Birdie or -1
  • White circle you have scored an Eagle or -2
  • Anywhere on the Green matting you have scored a Bogey or +1
  • In a Bunker you have scored a Double Bogey or +2
  • In a Water Hazard you have scored a Triple Bogey or +3
  • Putting off the matting surface will score a Triple Bogey or + 3

If a player or team putting on any hole manages to bring the ball to rest in either of the two holes not in play, then that shot shall be deemed as a Bogey or +1 for that hole. The order on the score card is Par 4, Par 5 then Par 3. Wherever the ball comes to rest that is the score for that hole. The hole order is always the same when playing and always moves in a clockwise direction. No Two Putts Are Ever The Same.

ROLL - BACK BAR: We have included a Roll - Back Bar to make it easier for those unfamiliar with putting a golf ball. Simply place the Roll - Back Bar at the end of the matting so that the matting has a roll back ramp. If a putt is hit slightly harder than required the ball should roll back onto the PUTT18 putting mat surface.

PENALTIES:  After having your turn, the balls must be removed from the putting surface allowing the next player or team to putt without obstruction. Golf balls must be removed from the putting surface before the next player or team can putt. Interfering with the putting surface while a player or team is putting will result in a One Shot Penalty Or Loss Of Hole In Match Play.

CHALLENGES: This is a unique feature of PUTT18. Each player or team is allowed 1 x Challenge throughout a 9 or 18 hole match. A Challenge Disc can be used in Match Play or Stroke Play. A Challenge is where a player or team can cancel an opponent’s shot and have that player replay that shot. The original shot does not count and is removed without registering a score. The player or team must then re-putt their ball again. A Challenge cannot be used during a Sudden Death Shootout.  A Challenge is represented by a C on the top of the score card and should be crossed when it has been used.

MULLIGAN: A Mulligan is a term used to cancel your own putt. This allows you to replay the putt without penalty. Each player or team is allowed 1 x Mulligan per match. A Mulligan Disc cannot be used in a Sudden Death Playoff. A  Mulligan is represented by an M on the top of the score card and should be crossed when it has been used.

BONUS HOLE: A Bonus Hole Disc can be used to reduce your score by one shot. To use a Bonus Hole disc a player or team must nominate the hole before they play the hole. It cannot be used in a Sudden Death Playoff. A Bonus Hole is represented by a B on the top of the score card and should be crossed when it has been used.

HANDICAP SYSTEM: A separate handicap system can be used to encourage and help inexperienced players. Handicaps can be used throughout the match and should be applied as a reduction of up to one shot per hole. Example: If using one shot (a Double Boogie becomes a Boogie and a Boogie becomes a Par and so on). Maximum handicap is 18.

LINE BALL: If the ball comes to rest and it is determined that the ball is on the line, then the player or team has the option to replay the putt. Independent review is preferred. If no independent review is available then majority rule applies. Honesty should prevail.

SUDDEN DEATH PLAYOFFS: All ties are decided by a Sudden Death playoff. Two players toss a coin to decide who plays first. The toss winner putts first and the loser of the toss must then select the first of three holes. Holes can be played in any order. Three holes must be played. Lowest score over the three holes wins. Should there be a tie then the players return to the first hole and they play hole by hole until a winner is determined. During a 2 person team playoff one person is nominated to represent the team. During a 4 person Team Sudden Death Playoff, three people are nominated to represent the team. Each player plays a hole each. Remember three holes must be played. Should there be a tie then the remaining player is nominated to return to the first hole and they then play hole by hole until a winner is determined. There are no handicaps in a Sudden Death Playoff.

STROKE PLAY: 9 OR 18 HOLE STROKE PLAY – 1 TO 4 PLAYERS

Each player or team putts to the 3 holes 3 times to play nine holes or 6 times play 18 holes. Each player or team plays three holes and then the next player plays three holes and so on until 9 or 18 holes are completed. Each player or team starts by placing a ball at the 1-3 hole area of the matting. Players can position the ball anywhere in this area as long as part of the ball touching the matting is not outside the area. The winner is the person that has the lowest score. Should there be a tie in Strokeplay then a Sudden Death Playoff is used to decide the winner.

MATCH PLAY: 9 OR 18 HOLE MATCH PLAY - 1 TO 4 PLAYERS

Stroke play can be adapted to play match play. Simply select your opponent or opposing sides and keep an additional score for player verse player as you would when playing match play. Lowest score always putts first. You can play match play hole by hole or 3 holes at a time to speed the game up. Player 1 putts and then removes their ball allowing their opponent to putt to the same hole. The player with the lowest score wins the hole. That player is then one up. Holes are halved by both players when they have the same score. To win in Match Play the player wins when he is more holes up than he has left to play. Example: If a player is 4 holes up with only three holes to go he has then won his match 4 and 3. If the match is tied then a sudden death playoff must take place.

ONE ON ONE or SHOT FOR SHOT: STROKEPLAY - 2 PLAYERS ONLY

One on One Putt Off. Two players play against one another for either 9 or 18 holes stroke play. The players use three balls and play one ball each or shot for shot. Whoever putts first must leave their ball whilst their opponent putts. Wherever the ball comes to rest that is the score for that hole. Balls hit by an opponent’s cannot be re-scored to a higher or lesser score. Once all Players have putt there 3 balls the balls are removed and the players proceed to the next three holes. Lowest last hole score putts first on the proceeding hole. Ties are decided by Sudden Death.
